The ACVIM is proud to
stand as a signatory of the Gender Identity Bill of Rights
(GIBOR), a
document that outlines the baseline rights needed for transgender, non-binary
and gender non-conforming people to thrive in the veterinary profession. The
GIBOR serves as a moral and ethical bridge between legal support for gender
diverse rights and how it translates in the veterinary profession, and can be
used to help transgender, non-binary and gender non-conforming individuals
advocate for their rights within the workplace.
We are committed to
taking the steps that continually move our college toward creating a space
where every Candidate, Diplomate and member of the animal-owning public is
respected and supported. We are proud to work toward creating a more equitable profession
to improve the lives of animals and people globally.
The ACVIM Board of
Regents feels that it is important to add the organization’s support as a
signatory of the GIBOR, as the document's purpose aligns with our core value of
inclusion and creating a diverse community in where all members are respected.
By signing the GIBOR, we are committing to support and work with members of the
LGBTQ+ community to make the ACVIM a place of belonging for transgender,
non-binary and gender-non-conforming individuals.

for transgender, non-binary and gender non-conforming belonging in veterinary
