Ovid Discovery Platform

The ACVIM staff, in partnership with the Membership Committee, has identified a discovery and delivery platform for biomedical content. It will provide ACVIM Diplomates a central location to access both open access content for veterinary medicine, as well as five subsidized veterinary journal subscriptions. The new platform consists of a single landing page that allows ACVIM members to search simultaneously across all the literature available to the organization through journal subscriptions and open-access resources, and then obtain full-text access for search results immediately. The launch of the platform is anticipated within the next couple of months. In addition to open access publications. these five subscription journals will be accessible to ACVIM Diplomates.

  • Journal of veterinary emergency and critical care
  • Journal of veterinary pharmacology & therapeutics
  • Veterinary clinical pathology
  • Veterinary radiology & ultrasound
  • Veterinary surgery

It is our intent to offer additional veterinary medicine journal subscriptions over time. If you have suggestions of journal subscriptions you would like to see added, please send them to Membership@ACVIM.org.

Specialty Trademarking

The ACVIM recognizes the importance of distinguishing our members as specialists in the veterinary profession and protecting that distinction. Because of this, we are in the process of trademarking the following specialty titles:

  • Board-Certified Veterinary Cardiologist
  • Board-Certified Large Animal Internal Medicine Specialist
  • Board-Certified Veterinary Oncologist
  • Board-Certified Veterinary Neurologist
  • Board-Certified Small Animal Internal Medicine Specialist

Board Certified Veterinary Nutritionist is already trademarked and was done by the nutrition specialty before they merged with the ACVIM.

You may begin using those titles now on your LinkedIn accounts, signature blocks, websites, etc. Once the trademarking process concludes we will develop policies to protect these titles and put in place a process to report abuse and mis-use.
