Potential New Threat to Pets: Information for Veterinarians

Pet Food Recall Information
E
merging Issues – Pet Food Recall Panel Discussion
On Saturday, June 9, 2007 a special session was held at the ACVIM Forum to present information on the recent pet food contamination and recall. This session included a presentation reviewing and summarizing the timeline of the recall, as well as information about what is known about the toxic substance(s). This was followed by a question and answer session to a panel composed of Specialists with expertise in nephrology, nutrition, pathology, and communications. Because of the importance of this information to the veterinary community, a verbatim transcript of the session was recorded. The transcript has been edited for grammar and ease of reading, and is posted here. The PowerPoint presentation is also posted. Anyone wishing a copy of the original transcript should contact the ACVIM office at ACVIM@ACVIM.org or 800-245-9081.
